Preventive oral health care is the best way to prevent cavities and keep your smile ship-shape.

Cleaning

Children age 3 and up receive a full cleaning with our handpiece brush and other tools. Children age 2 may receive a toothbrush cleaning instead if they are uncomfortable with the handpiece brush. The cleaning removes plaque (bacteria) and calculus (hardened plaque), which cause gum disease and tooth decay.

Fluoride Treatment

Topical fluoride is applied to the teeth to make them stronger and more resistant to tooth decay.

Digital Dental X-rays

X-rays allow us to check on the health of the inside and roots of your child’s teeth. It also allows us to see any cavities developing in between teeth.

Examination

Dr. Craig does a full review of your child’s health history prior to an exam. During the examination, he assesses and charts tooth health. These two components are both taken into consideration to provide a diagnosis and treatment plan for your child.

Oral Hygiene Instructions

Preventative care is the primary focus of our practice. We will work with you and your child to provide dental hygiene instructions that will help maintain good oral health at home.

Sealants

Sealants are special plastic coatings that are applied to the chewing surfaces of teeth to help prevent tooth decay. The chewing surfaces of children’s teeth have many crevices and grooves, which make them the most likely area for a cavity to develop. The sealants seal up those crevices and grooves to help prevent cavities.
